Candidates & Referendums

November 3, 2026 General and Special Elections

Please note:

  • Election officials within the Commonwealth of Virginia are by law not allowed to provide party designation for local candidates on the ballot (§ 24.2-613). The only candidates that may have a party designation on a ballot are those running for federal, statewide, or General Assembly offices.
  • In accordance with Va. Code §§ 24.2-539 through 541, if a political party nominee dies, withdraws, or has their nomination set aside, a new candidate and party filing window opens for that office with a filing deadline 60 days before the election. If any other party already has a nominee, they stay the nominee for that party. See the applicable Re-Opened Filing Window Quick Look One Pager on the Candidate Bulletins webpage for candidate and party requirements. Contact the local General Registrar for information on specific local offices with withdrawn political party nominees.
