Icons and Illustrations

Fort Awesome 4.7  (https://fontawesome.com/v4/icons/) is the standard icon library. Unicon (https://iconscout.com/unicons/explore/line) can also be used.

 Examples of Unicons

Many Content Types  allow the content contributor to indicate the icon being used. Copy and paste the entire icon style (including the prefix style uil or fa) from the library web page.

For example, uil uil-padlock is the padlock icon, used as an icon for security (second from right above).

If using an icon as an image, the SVG format is preferred, as it resizes without degredation.

Illustrations and Photographs

Given the the impact of political divisiveness over the last few years, there has been a conscious effort to design the site in a manner that evokes a sense that we are all welcome participants in a community of voting citizens.

Photographs

It is preferred that photography does not contain people. If the photograph contains people, it is preferred that the photo is faded out, used as a background, or that the individuals are not the focus of the image.  Any groups of individuals should represent the diversity of the commonwealth. Photographic images should be in webp format (preferred), png or jpg format.

Illustrations

Non photographic (vector-based) illustrations should be vector-based and saved in svg format. SVG images do not degrade when resized and are smaller than .png or .jpg images.
