As of December 2015, there were approximately 5.2 million registered voters in Virginia. Each year, hundreds of thousands of voter registration forms are processed by the localities. The processing of these forms leads to voters being added or removed from the list of registered voters for various reasons, including a change in eligibility status. Thousands more forms are processed that are used by voters to update their voter registration to reflect life changes, such as a new address or a new name.
Eligible Virginians have a cornucopia of options to register to vote or to update their voter registration information. These options include, those mandated by federal law, such as registering to vote at the Department of Motor Vehicles (“DMV”), and those pursuant to state law, such as the ability to register to vote anytime online, available here: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation.
